Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is said to be ready to welcome David Luiz back to training on Wednesday after a two-day break for the center back.
Luiz was dropped by Conte for Chelsea’s home game against Manchester United, replaced by Andreas Christensen whose performance helped the Blues to a vital win over their title rivals. This was due to the defender’s questioning of Conte’s tactics in training and what the Metro Sport quotes the Guardian as saying, a perceived drop in form.
He was not called by Brazil for their international games and would stay with the few Chelsea players who did not get call-ups by their national teams. This means he will stay and train at Cobham with Conte, as he tries to win his way back into the starting 11 of Conte.
Conte said after the win over Jose Mourinho’s Man United that Luiz was merely dropped for tactical reasons and it looks as though he will be back to training on Wednesday.
